Department manager
A department manager is a person who answers for the running of one department or division of a company, sees that its targets are met, and manages the people who work in it. The scope is narrower than the whole company and wider than a single team: a department with its own goals, its own staff and its own share of the budget.

About department manager
Results are the first part of the job. The department manager sets the department's objectives against the targets handed down from above, draws up a financial plan for the unit, and reports on whether the department is reaching what was agreed. The company's policies and standards apply inside the department as they do everywhere else, so the manager enforces them and takes responsibility for how the unit is managed.
People are the second part. The department manager supervises the staff, allocates the work, and handles the matters that come with managing a team, from performance to conduct. A business code of ethics guides the decisions, and corporate social responsibility commitments shape how the department treats employees, customers and suppliers.
Nothing in a company runs on one department alone. The department manager works with the other units on the daily business, passing on what the department needs from them and taking in what they need in return.
