About paper bag machine operator

Setting up begins the run. The operator configures the machine's control panel for the bag being made, adjusts the bag-making machine itself, and performs test runs before production starts, checking the first bags for size and glue quality.

Running the line is watchful work. The operator monitors the conveyor that carries the paper web through the machine, operates the bag machine through the run, and troubleshoots the stoppages that come with gluing paper at speed: a misfeed, a glue line out of place, a web running off true. Machinery is handled safely throughout, particularly around the folding and cutting sections.

Finished bags are handled by the same person. The operator stacks the bags in piles for packing and onward shipment, keeping the counts and the orientation right, so the stacks that leave the machine can be used downstream without being sorted again.
