Nursery school head teacher

A nursery school head teacher is a person who manages the daily running of a nursery school or a creche. About nursery school head teacher

On the educational side, the head teacher works from the curriculum objectives and from teaching methods appropriate to children of this age, where learning happens through play, routine and relationship rather than through instruction, and oversees the education staff delivering it.

Running the setting also falls to the head teacher, who follows the nursery procedures, manages the budgets, prepares reports, assesses the potential of the staff, and decides who is admitted.

Two things make this role unlike other school management. The children cannot report what happened to them, so the quality of the setting rests on the staff being chosen, trained and supervised well rather than on anything a child will tell a parent. And the parents are present daily, which is why supporting the organisation of school events is a real part of the job: it is where a setting and the families around it meet.
