About smart home installer
An installation can cover heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting, sun protection, irrigation, and safety and security systems including entry protection for the building. The smart home technician ties these parts into one building automation system, connects appliances and smart devices, and commissions them so that they recognise each other on the home network. That calls for knowledge of the internet of things and of the building's mechanical systems, and, where photovoltaics are involved, of photovoltaic products and smart grid systems.
The installer also advises the client on smart home technology and recommends the products and services that answer what the client wants in comfort, convenience, safety and security. The work follows health and safety procedures in the construction sector.
How to become a smart home installer: the starting point is a grounding in electrical installation and building automation. Which electrical qualifications are required is set by the rules of each country.
