About mine supervisor

Supervising the operation is the daily work. The supervisor oversees the work as it is carried out, manages supplies so that materials, parts and consumables are available for each shift, and keeps the record of mining operations.

Safety is not a separate duty here. The supervisor works to the mining safety regulations and carries out inspections of safety conditions in the mine. A condition that is acceptable at the start of a shift may not be acceptable at the end of it.

Planning is part of the role too. The supervisor oversees the mine planning activities and the mine construction operations, and manages the data on the working: what has been extracted, what remains, and how the ground has behaved. Decisions taken for current output can have lasting consequences for the rest of the deposit.
