About housing support worker
The worker gives housing advice, for example on the rights and obligations in a tenancy agreement, on rent arrears and on reporting repairs. They assist physically disabled social service users with the practical side of living in a place, and they deliver person-centred care, meaning the plan follows what the person wants their home life to be rather than a standard package.
The worker nurtures the trust of service users and interviews social service users to understand a situation properly.
The worker communicates with colleagues from other fields on professional matters, including social service workers, to coordinate the support a person receives. The worker follows company policies, which set the limits of what can be offered. Managing stress in the workplace is also part of the job. Formal requirements are set by national social care rules.
