About gaming inspector
The inspector knows the rules of every game the house runs and can deal them, while at the same time policing them. The tables are watched: whether a deal follows the rules, whether payouts are correct, how players and dealers behave. The task is to catch cheating — marked cards, chip switching, collusion between a player and a dealer, devices brought onto the floor — and equally to catch an error made by the staff.
A casino inspector supervises staff and trains card game dealers, and looks after the gaming equipment: tables, cards, wheels, chips and their security features. Customers are served and their queries and complaints handled, a dispute over the result of a hand among them.
Gambling carries a risk of addiction, so the inspector applies responsible gambling rules: recognising play that suggests loss of control, knowing the self-exclusion procedures, and keeping anyone not entitled to play off the floor. The inspector adapts to changing situations on the floor. Gaming is licensed and supervised by state authorities.
