About gaming dealer
The dealer controls the game. They deal each player the right number of cards or work the wheel, the dice or the shoe, call the stage of the game, settle the bets and clear the layout before the next round. Chips and cash are counted in front of the players at every stage. Each of these moves follows casino rules, and the dealer also applies gaming room safety rules.
Dealers also take part in games themselves to make up the number of players a table needs, promote the establishment to guests, and train other card game dealers.
The dealer keeps the table moving, assists players who do not know a rule, and handles a losing streak or a dispute with diplomacy rather than argument. They also follow responsible gambling principles and respond when a player needs help. Formal requirements, including licensing of casino staff, are set by national gambling law.
