About court administrative officer
During proceedings, the officer calls cases and identifies the parties, takes notes, records the orders a judge issues, and assists the judge through a sitting, preparing the files, exhibits and forms that are needed before the judge asks for them. The officer handles evidence relating to a case correctly and according to procedure, so that it can be relied on in the case.
The officer also manages case settlements and handles official documentation, and knows court procedures, including the orders issued in civil proceedings.
The officer also keeps the financial records, managing the accounts and applying accounting techniques to deposits, fees and other sums paid in the course of a case. In some jurisdictions the officer also has authority of their own, for instance to accept or reject applications in simplified probate matters and in the appointment of a personal representative, which varies greatly between legal systems. The officer drafts legal documents and answers questions from the parties and other court users. Formal requirements are set by national court service rules.
