About clothing quality inspector

Clothing quality inspection covers each stage: cutting, sewing, finishing. The inspector evaluates garment quality against the standards the plant and the customer's order set — seam straightness, stitch coverage, how a sleeve is set, colour fastness, agreement with the size chart. The inspector knows standard garment sizing systems.

Inspection covers materials and components as well. Apparel inspection takes in fabric, trims and linings against the specification, process control in the clothing industry runs alongside, and product quality is checked on the textile production line before a batch moves on. Production prototypes are prepared as well.

The inspector operates computerised control systems: recording defects, tying them to workstations and operations, so that the record shows where a fault keeps coming back. A garments quality inspector also needs knowledge of garment manufacture. Based on these checks, the inspector grades garments by quality and makes sure each one meets the plant's quality standards.
