Chemical processing supervisor

A chemical processing supervisor is a person who coordinates the activities and manages the staff of a chemical production process, seeing that the targets are reached and the production deadlines met. The supervisor controls quality and optimises the processing of chemicals, making sure the specified tests, analyses and quality control procedures are carried out.

About chemical processing supervisor

The process is the first subject. The supervisor works from a knowledge of chemical processes, manages the chemical process inspections, and approves the raw materials before they enter production.

Quality is established in the laboratory as much as on the plant. The supervisor applies laboratory techniques, carries out laboratory simulations where a change has to be tried at small scale before it is run at full scale, and works to avoid contamination, which in chemical production means both protecting a batch from the plant and protecting the next batch from this one.

Safety is the limit on everything else. The supervisor looks after the safety of the workers and applies the regulations on exposure to contamination. Where production targets conflict with safety, the supervisor puts the safety procedures first, even at the cost of a deadline.
