About chemical manufacturing quality technician

The technician takes samples from production, applies laboratory techniques to them, and compares the result against the specification the product has to meet. Computer-controlled instruments do the measuring, but the technician decides what is sampled, at what intervals and from where.

The technician continuously monitors compliance with production quality standards and supervises quality control, and the results are the basis for the decision to release or hold a batch.

Analysis results are documented and test data is recorded, so that a batch can be reconstructed months afterwards if a customer reports a problem. Permits for the use of controlled substances are part of the paperwork in this industry, since some reagents and some products are restricted. Chemicals are handled safely throughout, which in a plant means knowing what each substance does to skin, lungs and equipment, and what it must not be stored next to. ICT systems carry the instrument data, the specifications and the records.
