About welding coordinator
Technical control comes first. The coordinator selects the filler material for each joint, controls the welding process as it runs, and inspects product quality afterwards. Knowing the metals involved is part of that. The coordinator also welds the particularly demanding parts. The coordinator also performs welding inspections and analyses whether the staff available match the workload.
Equipment and people follow. The coordinator sees that the welding equipment the job needs is ready for use before work starts, and applies the company's own standards on the shop floor. The welders themselves are assessed for their potential, and some coordinators also answer for vocational training.
The coordinator works to make the shop a place where welders keep developing their skills, and coordinates the welding processes together with the specialised activities around them.
