About waste broker
Matching the waste to the route is the substance of the role. Not every carrier may carry every stream, and not every plant may accept one, so the broker works from a knowledge of waste management, of waste transport regulations and of the types of waste collection vehicle, and arranges a route that is both lawful and cost-effective.
The daily work involves communication in three directions. The broker communicates with customers about what they actually have, with the collection operators about when and how it will be lifted, and with the treatment plants about whether they will take it.
Documentation is a key part of the role. The broker keeps the waste collection records and ensures compliance with waste regulations. In this field the paper trail is the proof that waste went where it was supposed to go.
