About rigging supervisor

Lifting is calculated rather than estimated. The supervisor works from the crane load charts, which state what a given machine may lift at a given radius and configuration, and from mechanics, and interprets two-dimensional plans to establish where a load can be set down and what the ground beneath the crane will carry. Rigging terminology is a working skill here.

The crew is directed rather than merely scheduled. The supervisor directs the drilling equipment operators, understands the instructions relating to the drilling work the lifts serve, and organises the day, deciding the order in which the lifts are carried out.

Response time is part of the role. The supervisor reacts to events in a short time and works ergonomically. Reacting in time means monitoring the situation, anticipating events and being ready to act quickly.
