About relocation officer
The relocation officer is answerable for every part of a move. Client needs are established first — how many people are going, with families or without, for how long, and what standard of housing they are looking for — and relocation services are then planned: transport of belongings, dates, the order in which things happen. Requirements for moving goods are analysed.
The officer also advises on property: passes on property information, liaises with landlords and reads tenancy agreements with an eye on the deposit, the notice period and the condition the place is handed over in. Client interests are protected throughout.
The relocation officer knows labour law and employment legislation and the terms on which someone works away from their previous base: the contract amendment, the length of the posting, insurance and tax. The overall wellbeing of employees and their families is part of the remit. Feedback is collected from the employees who have moved and used to improve the next relocation. Employers set the formal requirements.
