About music teacher
The teacher gives students an overview of music history and repertoire, but the course itself is spent playing: the teacher plays musical instruments to demonstrate, teaches the principles of music, and helps students experiment with different styles and techniques on the instrument they have chosen. The teacher also encourages students to develop a style of their own.
The teacher adapts teaching methods to each student's capability, teaching a child differently from an adult, and develops a training style over time.
The teacher also leads, directs and produces musical performances and coordinates the technical production, which means the sound, the staging and the running order as well as the music. Performances are also where the teacher draws out the artistic potential of performers. The teacher manages student relationships and supports students in their learning, including when progress slows. Qualification requirements differ by country and by whether the teaching is in a school or privately.
