About dance teacher
The dance teacher covers different types and forms of dance: ballet, jazz, tap, ballroom, hip-hop, Latin and folk dance. Classes are mainly practical: the teacher demonstrates a step, breaks it into parts, corrects posture and lead, and only then puts a sequence together. The teacher also passes on history and repertoire, so that a pupil knows where a dance came from.
The teacher adapts teaching methods to what a pupil is capable of, develops their own way of running a class, and encourages pupils to look for a style of their own rather than to copy one model. The teacher kindles enthusiasm for dance, draws out the artistic potential of pupils and manages relationships inside the group.
The dance teacher also prepares performances: setting choreography, running rehearsals and coordinating the technical side — set, props, costumes and lighting.
