About irrigation system installer

The installer lays and assembles irrigation systems: the mains and lateral pipework, the valves and hydrants, the sprinklers or drip lines and the controls that open and close them in sequence. The installer also connects a water filtration system, which keeps dirt out of the sprinklers and drip lines. Construction materials such as pipes and fittings are inspected before they go in.

The installer relies on knowledge of mechanics and mechanical systems, since pressure and flow decide whether water reaches the whole irrigated area evenly, from one end of a field to the other.

The installer transports construction materials to the site, and the assembly itself involves handling pipe and fittings in trenches. Health and safety procedures in construction apply, and the work is carried out using ergonomic methods. Formal requirements are set by the employer.
