About insulation worker
The worker knows the types of insulation material, such as mineral wool, polystyrene, polyurethane foam, cellulose and rigid and flexible boards, and chooses them for the place of installation: a wall, a floor or a pipe. The insulation material is then installed so that it works: fitted tight, with no gaps, no compression and no path left for heat to go around it.
The worker also looks after building airtightness, which decides whether insulation performs as designed, since air moving through a construction carries heat away. Airtightness is achieved with membranes, tapes and seals.
Adhesive wall coverings are applied where the system requires them. The work serves energy conservation but has to take indoor environment quality into account, since a building sealed without ventilation becomes damp. The worker transports construction materials and uses ergonomic working methods, including in work done in roof spaces, crawl spaces and against ceilings, with materials that irritate skin and lungs.
