Glove maker
A glove maker is a person who designs and produces gloves, whether technical, sporting or for wear. The three categories ask for different things from the same craft: a dress glove is judged on fit and finish, a sports glove on grip and movement, and a technical glove on whether it protects the hand it is on.

About glove maker
Design comes before cutting. The glove maker works out the pattern and chooses the material for the purpose. Distinguishing fabrics is a skill of its own: leather, knitted and coated materials behave differently under tension.
Making follows. The glove maker stitches fabric pieces together, produces the garment, works from garment manufacturing technology for the construction and the finishing, and distinguishes the accessories that complete it: closures, linings, cuffs and reinforcements.
Protective work is a field in itself. The glove maker produces personal protective equipment made from textile materials and sews protective workwear, where the product has to meet a specification rather than a preference. A glove made as protection is examined against what it is meant to resist, and the construction, the material and the stitching all have to hold to that standard.
