About agricultural inspector

An inspection covers several areas. The inspector carries out inspections on site and monitors agricultural activity: health and safety arrangements, how production runs, the state of buildings and equipment, and costs and the records kept. The principles of agronomic production are known, so what is judged is not only the paperwork but what can be seen in the field and in the sheds.

Some findings call for testing. The inspector collects samples for analysis — soil, feed, produce, plant protection products — and analyses inspection procedures and techniques. Pollution prevention is part of the work too: how fertilisers, waste and chemicals are stored.

After an inspection, the inspector analyses the findings, reports on them, records accidents and incidents, and communicates the health and safety measures required. Inspections cover production processes and costs as well as the safety of the people working on the holding.
