About train conductor
Work with passengers comes first. The conductor concentrates on the passengers, communicates with them clearly, monitors their enquiries, analyses what they need, manages the customer service on the train, sells tickets on board, and passes on the reports passengers make. Passengers ask about more than the timetable: a missed connection, a wrong ticket, an unwell passenger, a crowded carriage.
The role also has an operational side. The conductor works the doors, inspects the carriages, and carries the operational information that moves between the platform and the cab.
Safety sits above both. The conductor looks after the passengers' safety and responds to technical problems and to emergencies. In situations such as an evacuation, a fire or a sudden illness, the conductor has to know what to do.
