Strategic planning manager
A strategic planning manager is a person who builds the strategic plan of a company as a whole together with a team of managers, and then coordinates how each department puts that plan into effect. The work belongs to the planning and general management function rather than to one operating area.

About strategic planning manager
The strategic planning manager drafts business plans, sets down what the company intends to achieve over the coming years, and measures the draft against the company's own policies and its commitments on corporate social responsibility. The plan then has to be translated for the organisation: every department and every branch needs a detailed version with objectives of its own, and the manager helps the people there interpret the overall document and write that version.
Implementation is part of the role. The strategic planning manager puts strategic management into practice, turns the agreed strategy into operational business plans, and keeps decisions taken day to day in line with the strategic assumptions behind them. Keeping departments consistent with one another is part of the job. The manager watches for branches drifting away from the agreed direction and uses several communication channels, from meetings and written reports to direct conversation, to pull the work back together.
