About public health policy officer

Finding the problem comes before proposing anything. The officer analyses the health problems within a given community, identifying the problems that current health policy does not address. Public health as a discipline is what makes that analysis more than an impression.

Policy is the instrument. The officer develops the strategies, implements strategy within healthcare practice, and resolves public health problems, working to the healthcare regulations and the health care legislation that bound what may be done and by whom.

The role succeeds or fails on other people. The officer cooperates with members of the community and delivers solutions that make the work easier for the services that have to carry them out. Advising government means putting a case for change in a form a decision-maker can act on: what the problem is, what the options cost, and what each one would be expected to change.
