About logistics analyst
Analysis is the core of the work. The analyst performs system analysis on how material actually moves, works from a knowledge of supply chain management and of multimodal transport logistics, and weighs economic criteria when deciding. The analyst also assesses the problems in production and the supply chain that the analysis brings to light.
Analysis needs reliable data. The analyst creates freight rate databases, maintains the databases the logistics sector works from, and manages the logistics service pricing systems. Collecting up-to-date rates is a large part of the role.
The analyst's work feeds decisions taken by management. Supporting the preparation of the annual budget is part of that: the figures a logistics plan rests on come from this work. The job combines data analysis with an understanding of how warehousing and transport work in practice.
