About gas production engineer
The engineer applies gas engineering methods such as hydraulic fracturing, which increases the flow from a reservoir, and natural gas condensate recovery processes, and designs the utility equipment that moves gas from the well into the network.
The engineer uses gas chromatography to establish the composition of the extracted gas, because gas is a mixture and its value, its treatment and its safe handling all depend on what is in it. Knowledge of gaseous fuel shows what a given gas can be used for.
The engineer supervises production, the operational side, including plants that run continuously, and develops improvements to existing systems. The work draws on engineering principles, industrial engineering and knowledge of gas production and distribution processes. Formal requirements for education and licences are set by the employer.
