About database integrator
Integration turns on settling two things: how the connection is made and how the data is understood. The integrator knows database management systems, uses an interface description language and a query language for data described in the RDF model, and checks whether fields of the same name in two systems mean the same thing.
Data needs putting in order before it is joined. The integrator performs data cleansing: removing duplicates, correcting formats, filling gaps and resolving discrepancies between systems.
A connection has to be tested and kept working. The integrator carries out integration testing, verifies formal ICT specifications, uses debugging tools and determines which side of a connection is not behaving to its interface specification. They manage ICT system version changes, because an update on one side can break a connection that worked. They maintain the integration and ensure the systems keep working together. The work calls for knowledge of database management systems, the RDF query language and ICT debugging tools.
