About container equipment assembly supervisor
The supervisor works on the production of pressure vessels, boilers and other metal containers, and monitors how assembly proceeds: the order in which parts go together, the fit, the preparation of edges for welding, and compliance with the requirements of the production process.
The supervisor oversees quality control stage by stage, knows metal container manufacture and recognises the defects that will show up later at the pressure test: cold welds, distortion, a head set out of true. They report problems that cannot be settled at the station to senior staff.
The supervisor answers for people and for time as well. They train and instruct assembly workers, plan shift work, follow the production schedule and keep a record of progress. They also find solutions when material runs short or a station stands idle. The job calls for knowledge of metal container manufacture, problem solving and planning shift work for a team. Pressure vessels are subject to technical inspection.
