About commissioning engineer

The commissioning engineer checks whether what was built matches what was designed. The engineer verifies the correct functioning of equipment, facilities and installations, compares the work as executed against the requirements and the specification, and uses testing equipment: measuring flows, pressures, temperatures and electrical parameters, and checking system parameters against reference values. The engineer carries out quality control analysis and writes up every discrepancy.

The engineer supervises tests of individual units and of the whole plant, including under load, solves problems on site, and decides what has to be corrected before handover and what can be carried into the operating recommendations.

The engineer liaises within quality assurance, contracts out parts of the work, presents test reports, and finally gives approval for the project to be closed. The engineer also applies safety engineering so that the first start-up poses no danger to people or equipment.
