Chemical plant control room operator

A chemical plant control room operator is a person who monitors and controls the production systems remotely through a shift, reporting every irregularity and incident using the systems required for it. The operator works the panels in the control room and answers for the safety of the production staff and of the production equipment.

About chemical plant control room operator

The whole plant is seen through instruments. The operator monitors the plant's production process, controls the process remotely, and monitors the impact of production. An operator learns what normal looks like on a screen, and then notices when it stops looking like that.

Reporting is a safety function rather than paperwork. The operator reports hazards arising from damaged equipment, draws up incident reports, and uses the communication equipment to reach the people on the plant, who cannot see what the control room can.

Two parts of the role reach outside the room. The operator supervises the minor repair work carried out during a shift and keeps contact with the staff doing it. The operator has to be ready to react at once when something goes wrong.
