About aircraft interior technician
The technician starts with incoming material and inspects the components received, checks them against the order and measures the parts being made so that they fit their place in the cabin. Engineering drawings are read and the manufacturer's technical documentation used throughout.
Before fitting, the technician prepares the cabin interior for the new components and pre-treats the workpieces — cutting, sanding, bonding, finishing upholstery with upholstery tools — and then attaches the components in the cabin as the instructions require: seats to the floor rails, panels to the structure, lighting strips to the ceiling. In-flight entertainment systems are replaced as well, screens and their wiring included.
The technician solves problems that arise during fitting and repair, working from the technical documentation. Health and safety standards are observed, including when working with adhesives and power tools. Aircraft maintenance, cabin work included, is carried out by organisations approved by the national aviation authority.
