You work closely with production designers and directors to translate artistic concepts into wearable pieces that allow performers maximum freedom of movement. Your day-to-day work involves studying design sketches and photographs, sculpting and shaping materials, fitting masks to individual performers, and making adjustments to ensure comfort and functionality while maintaining aesthetic integrity. You must balance artistry with practical engineering, understanding human anatomy and ergonomics to prevent performer fatigue during long rehearsals and performances.
